Dr Bellamy graduated from the University of NSW. He trained in cardiology at the Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney and later at The Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio USA. This is where he trained in coronary angioplasty. He has been the Director of the cardiac catheterisation Laboratories at the John Hunter Hospital since 1991 and a Senior Lecturer in Medicine at The University of Newcastle. He has experience in all interventional procedures including coronary and structural heart disease.

Dr Bellamy is part of the Healthe Heart Team, consulting at Forster Private Hospital (Forster), Mayo Private Hospital (Taree) and Lingard Private Hospital (Newcastle).
